Night of Ignorance

I make inhuman efforts to retain perception. I arm-wrestle death. She shoots me up with this weariness. Sometimes I’m alone and tell myself that none of it is happening. That I invented the world in order to remain here.

In these last stages, for some time now, I feel less myself and more nothing. What I mean is, nothingness invades me naturally. Detail is removed from the table of the possible. My scent fades like an ink stain under water.

High in the Sky, Karma

I find Yedra reading a letter addressed to me. Who knows how long it’s been there, hanging like a clothespin.

Aurora,

You had your chance and blood coursed through your body. Now it’s my time. You never understood the Colonel, never gave your son affection. Nagging Yedra is the only one who ever respected you, just to oppose me. Your minuscule world hates you.

Get out of my way. We, the new generations, need space. Not even the dead want to go. Stand aside for the glory, where you won’t block our sun. Casting horrid shadows across our newborn bodies, like cacti without mystery. Ascend with your restless souls and let the human god you invented take care of everything. You’ll move on to another landscape, more in tune with your sad madness. An open plain and the ringing of trumpets, a sky pierced with thorns. The frame you deserve.

Follow your disastrous heroes down the road to oblivion. Reality kisses me on the mouth, and I let it.

Enough with the dead woman’s laments and unwelcome lurking. Know your place. A sweet breeze is blowing here, love granted me presence, and I’m what comes next. What you couldn’t have now is mine. Electric yet sensate nymph, joyfully I take your place. Your burden is my pleasure.

Stop spying, my dear. I feel the vacuum of your cavities, skull scrubbed clean like a lackluster parade. The show is over. Time to die.

Yours sincerely, Lana Carne
